Whatever level you are at, snow boarding safety is important to everyone.

Tip Number 1

Snow Boarding Equipment Safety

Before you jump on a board you need to check that it is working properly and that there is nothing wrong with the board itself. You also need to check that it is the correct size, and that it is holding your snow boarding shoes properly. The fact is that when you are snow boarding, you rely on the safety of the board just as much as you do on your own skill.

Snow Boarding Clothing

If you are hitting the slopes you have to understand that looking great and being safe are two different things altogether. If you are considering what kind of glasses to wear then do not think that your average sun glasses will do the trick. When you are snow boarding it is possible to be blinded by the snow, or least get sore eyes, so make sure that you have proper UV protection for a start. The next step is to think about how you are going to keep warm. This is very serious as if you are not warm then it can do more than just ruin a days snow boarding. What you should do is wear warm clothing underneath your snow boarding gear, and you also have to 100% make sure that everything that you are wearing is water proof. Everyone has had a snow ball fight wearing gloves that aren’t water proof. Were your hands cold? Of course they were. That is why your clothing must be waterproof. The next step when it comes to clothing is thinking about your safety, and by safety I mean padding. Yes folks, looking like a football player when you hit the slopes is the best thing to do, you can be sure to have a lot less pain when you fall.

Snow Boarding – Food and Water

When you are snow boarding it is important that you eat and drink enough to get by. When you are going to the slopes it is not recommended that you eat too much before you start, but make sure that you have a healthy snack and be sure to drink plenty of water. People always think that because it may be cold, that they are not thirsty, however this a reason why many people get dehydrated on the slope. Did you know that more people suffer dehydration from skiing than from long jump, table tennis and dancing put together. Why is that? Because people need to think about what they need, rather than the usual signs that they may be thirsty. However, when people do go snow boarding accidents can happen and that is why you must be prepared. When you go on a long run you should take emergency food and drink. What I mean by this is around 1 litre of water and maybe cereal bars or something. What we are talking about is calories, fat and protein. This means that if anything bad was ever to happen then you could surely get something to eat and drink, and that will make you last longer in a bad situation.

When you are snow boarding safety is of paramount importance. Everyone can still enjoy themselves, but they should take precautions when they do. What I recommend is that people should take a mobile phone with them when they go snow boarding, and also bring a replacement SIM card. Why is that? Because if you do not get a signal out on the slopes then you will double your chances of getting one, if you have a phone that uses a different operator. A replacement battery is also a great idea, but only for emergencies!

I do believe we are all selfish , in that everything we do or say positive for someone else is a way of feeling good about ourselves..... What? Well when do we feel the best about ourselves? How about after giving someone a present or donating money to a charity.... so by saying that is being selfish a bad thing? At times, not at all!

How to find true happiness?

I believe balance is number 1 and I believe in our lives we will find our greatest happiness using the gifts that god gave us and making the most of them.

Being left handed can sometimes be a drag. This is because almost all hand-held devices, such as tools, have been designed with a right-handed individual in mind. This is because everything has been created to accommodate a right-handed society. In fact, most right-handed people don't even recognize that things have been made specifically for them. It's just the way that things are, and since they work so easily for right-handed people, it becomes second nature. Why all the discrimination against lefties? Based on the standards of tradition, the right hand has always been preferred to the left.

Of course, today we live in a totally different world. Now it's no longer an issue if someone is a left hander. At least, not an issue as far as being judged by society, or having left handed tools available. This was not at all the case in the past, however, science has shown us that it is perfectly natural for some people to be left handed. If parents discover that their child prefers to use their left hand over their right, many medical authorities strongly encourage parents to not change this natural process. There is nothing wrong with a child using their left hand. It simply takes a little more guidance when it comes to developing handwriting skills.

There are now more left handed people in the world than ever before. After all, as the population rises, so do the number of left handed people. A recent study shows that the number of people who primarily use their left hand is on a steady rise. In fact, as much as 10-15% of the population is left handed. That's more than one in ten! Therefore, if you don't happen to be left handed yourself, you likely know someone who is.

While being left handed isn't a big deal anymore, once upon a time it was extremely frowned upon. For instance, in India and Indonesia, it is considered extremely impolite to eat with the left hand, as this is the hand that is used to "cleanse" oneself. Therefore, the left hand is considered dirty. In addition, teachers in America used to slap the wrists of students who attempted to write with their left hands.

Aside from past ridicule of society, lefties also face many other struggles when it comes to using scissors, knives, cameras, tools, watches, etc. Every one of these objects need the complete opposite design in order to accommodate the needs of a lefty. Fortunately, left handers of today are treated with much more consideration, and virtually any tool can be designed for left handed individuals.

Therefore, if you use your left hand over your right, or your child does, this is quite natural, and shouldn't be something for you to worry about. Just make sure that you provide your child with all of the help they need to make the most of their abilities. Remember, there is nothing wrong about being left handed, event though it can sometimes prove to be difficult in a world with a predominant right handed population.

Finally, there are now many gadgets and everyday items (like left handed scissors) which can also make you life easier and make ideal gifts.

Amateur radio or ham is largely a hobby activity. The majority of thel hobby time is spent on making contact and having conversations with people in distant regions and from different cultures. Two way communications, identifying their location and station, zone, region and place is the usual custom. This is always followed by other casual communications. If the contact is made for a contest to make two way communication with as many stations or ham radio operators as possible, this all the information that is shared.

DX-ing and DX-peditions:

An amateur radio operator’s main hobby is to make contact with as many stations as possible from as many parts of the world as possible. DX stands for Distant Stations. The DX-ing usually is followed with the QSO. (a Q code., see below) which means “a conversation”.

DX-peditions are different in the sense that they are expeditions organized / planned solely for the purpose of making contacts with some special or rare stations and regions. Some people travel long distance just to make contact with some unrepresented region or place.

Radio Frequency scanners available now a days form the tool of great use in these attempts. The radio scanner scans for signals until a strong signal is found and so on.

QSL cards:

The Q code is a standardized collection of three-letter message encodings, all starting with the letter "Q", initially developed for commercial radiotelegraph communication, and later adopted by other radio services, especially amateur radio. In today’s audio signal transmission age, the Q codes are not essential. but still in use and are viewed as a sort of tradition.

As a part of DX-ing and DX-peditions the QSL card or the proof of contact card is shared. QSL is one such Q-code that means “I acknowledge receipt”. The common practice was that the ones who made contact at a particular frequency exchange a QSL card in the mail to confirm their contact and conversations. These QSL cards can be used as a proof of their making contact and amateur operators who make contact with a certain number of other amateur radio operators in a specified time is awarded. Moreover, they are distinguished and honored since they are deemed to be efficient amateur radio operators.

Remote region contacting:

Some countries have less amateur radio operators, and making contact with these is considered special. So, when a radio amateur from these regions makes contact, other ham operators flock to make communication with this / these hams. Making contact with these less represented places has its awards and special considerations in the award programs.

Hamfests:

Social events for the ham families and friends. It’s something akin to the family oriented social fests where there are sales, exchanges, meetings and fun. Similarly, the fest is filled with selling and exchanging hams, meeting real life ham friends and fun events for a day or sometimes over few days.

Discussion groups and Nets:

Ham operators form a discussion group based on common interests other than ham or it can also be a ham related discussion group and they can form nets or networks.

If a radio hobbyist gets involved with all of these different activities, he or she is sure to never be bored. Look into some of them, and see if you would like to get involved.
